Pyrite forms in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks through the combination of iron and sulfur. This mineral crystallizes in a cubic system, often forming perfect cubes or pyritohedrons, when hot, mineral-rich fluids permeate through rock layers or volcanic activity deposits these minerals.
Pyrite’s name derives from the Greek word “pyr,” meaning “fire,” because it sparks when struck. Since ancient times, pyrite has been confused with gold, leading to its nickname “fool’s gold”. Civilizations like the Incas used it for mirrors and decorative items. Historically, pyrite has enjoyed use in jewelry, as a source of sulfur, and for creating sparks before the advent of modern lighters.
Pyrite associates with wealth, abundance, and protection. In folklore, it’s a stone that can attract wealth, hence its connection to the sun and fire, symbolizing vitality, action, and determination. It shields against negative energy and environmental pollutants.
Pyrite beads have a metallic gold to brassy yellow color, with a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, making them durable for jewelry. Their cubic or multifaceted shapes catch light beautifully. Metaphysically, pyrite enhances willpower, confidence, and manifestation of one’s desires. It’s linked to the Solar Plexus Chakra, promoting energy, vitality, and mental clarity.
Mining: Pyrite is mined worldwide, with significant deposits in Spain, Peru, and the United States. Its extraction often occurs as a byproduct of other mining operations, especially in the search for copper, zinc, and gold.
Production into Beads:
Cutting and Shaping: Jewelers cut or carve pyrite into beads, taking advantage of its natural cubic formations or shaping it into rounds, nuggets, or other designs that highlight its metallic sheen.
Polishing: They polish pyrite beads to enhance their luster, ensuring they reflect light in a way that mimics the appearance of gold. However, care must be taken as pyrite can tarnish or react with moisture over time.

By following these care instructions, your Stainless Earrings will retain their beauty and luster for years to come.
6 & 10mm beads, in some cases the size of the stone beads may vary +-1mm.
Hook lengths range between 1cm basic hooks, 1.5+cm English Locks, 2cm silver hooks – refer to the product photos.
In newer designs, the stainless steel spacer daisies, bead caps and small beads contribute 3-4mm extra length (refer to product photo)
In principle I keep the weight below 5 grams per earring, so it doesn’t stretch or hurt your ears even if you wear it the whole day. Occasionally, for some designs, that weight limit exceeds by a gram – every pair has their specific weight marked under the overview tab.
Note that some earring hooks have thicker wires, and if you are not used to wearing earrings daily, using them will feel uncomfortable in the beginning.
