Koi fish embody resilience, transformation, and the pursuit of personal growth. East Asian traditions admire koi for their strength to navigate through turbulent waters, mirroring the human spirit’s perseverance against life’s challenges. This resilience inspires wearers to view obstacles as pathways to self-improvement.
In Chinese lore, koi symbolize ambition and triumph. The fable of a koi ascending a waterfall to become a dragon speaks to transformation and success. Wearing these koi motifs serves as a reminder of our capacity to overcome hardships, emerging not just intact but enhanced, like the dragon from the river.
Koi also represent harmony and balance. Their serene dance through the water reflects a peaceful alignment with life’s ebb and flow. Combining koi charms with semi-precious stones not only enhances this tranquil energy but also bridges the wearer with the profound symbolism of nature.
These earrings, adorned with koi charms, are a celebration of resilience and grace, capturing the essence of serenity in every movement.Koi fish hold profound symbolism across cultures, embodying resilience, transformation, and the pursuit of personal growth. Originating in East Asian traditions, koi are revered for their ability to swim against strong currents, symbolizing perseverance in the face of challenges. This tenacity reflects the human journey, encouraging wearers to embrace life’s trials as opportunities for growth.
Carnelian, known for its fiery red to orange hues, is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of silica. It’s predominantly found in India, Brazil, and Uruguay, with its color coming from iron oxide impurities.
The name “carnelian” comes from the Latin “carnis” meaning “flesh,” due to its flesh-like color. It’s also known by alternative names like cornelian, and historically, it’s been confused or grouped with:
Red Agate: Carnelian can be considered a type of red agate, but agate generally has banded patterns, whereas carnelian is more uniform in color.
Sard: Similar to carnelian but often darker and harder, the distinction between carnelian and sard is not rigid, with “sard” being the name for the browner variety of chalcedony.
Other names include Mecca Stone, Pigeon’s Blood Agate, and Canary Stone.
Carnelian resonates with Mars, symbolizing courage, vitality, and action. It’s strongly associated with the sacral chakra, enhancing creativity, motivation, and passion. Here’s how carnelian is viewed culturally:
Ancient Egyptian Culture: Carnelian was used extensively in jewelry and amulets, believed to protect the dead in the afterlife and to symbolize life’s vigor and the sun’s warmth.
Roman Times: Worn by warriors for courage and by orators for confidence, carnelian was thought to provide protection and eloquence.
Islamic Tradition: The Prophet Muhammad is said to have worn a carnelian ring, which was believed to bring good fortune and protection against the evil eye.
Hindu Mythology: Associated with the root chakra for grounding and the sacral chakra for creativity, carnelian in Hindu practices is used to boost energy and motivation.
Each earring weighs 4,5 grams (0,16 ounce) and measures 33*91*13mm (1.3*3.6*0.51 inch);
6 & 10mm beads, in some cases the size of the stone beads may vary +-1mm (e.g. my Prehnites are a tad larger, the freshwater pearls aren’t perfect round).
Shvenzy English Lock Lyre Hooks are about 10mm in the front. With the spacers and chain links the beaded part of the earring is around 45mm long.
The machine cut metal koi charm size is roughly 50x30mm. The total length of a Koi Serenity earring averages around 90mm.
The weight for the Koi Serenity earrings is 4.5grams per average – which is still light enough for most people to tolerate wearing it throughout the day.
A few in the set exceed my 5 grams principle. If that is a concern, please refer to the product description, where precise weights are noted.
