In principle I keep the weight below 5 grams per earring, so it doesn’t stretch or hurt your ears even if you wear it the whole day. Occasionally, for some designs, that weight limit exceeds by a gram – every pair has their specific weight marked under the general description or “dimensions” tab.
Rhodochrosite emerges from the Earth with a soft, captivating palette of pinks, reds, and creamy whites, often banded in patterns that resemble the heart’s chambers. This mineral forms primarily in hydrothermal veins, where manganese combines with carbonate to create its distinctive hues. Argentina, particularly the Catamarca province, is renowned for its supply of rhodochrosite, with notable deposits also found in the United States, South Africa, and Mexico.
The name “rhodochrosite” derives from the Greek words “rhodon” (rose) and “chroma” (color), perfectly capturing the gem’s rosy allure. Historically, this stone has been known as “Inca Rose,” reflecting its significance in Andean culture, where it was considered a sacred stone of the Incas. Also known as Manganese Spar and Raspberry Spar.
Rhodochrosite is deeply intertwined with emotions, love, and healing. It’s often linked to the heart chakra, promoting self-love, emotional healing, and compassion. In the lore of the Andean people, rhodochrosite was considered a gift from Pachamama, the Earth Mother, symbolizing life, love, and the beating heart of the world.
In Western metaphysical traditions, rhodochrosite is used to cleanse and energize the emotional body. It’s believed to help in overcoming past traumas, encouraging one to confront and release emotional pain. The stone’s nurturing energy is thought to foster an environment where love can flourish, both for oneself and others.
In shamanic practices in South America, rhodochrosite is used in rites for healing the heart and spirit. Its banded patterns are seen as a map of the soul’s journey through life, offering insights into personal growth and emotional evolution.
Astrologically, rhodochrosite aligns with the planet Venus, embodying love, beauty, and artistic expression. It resonates with Libra and Taurus, enhancing their love for harmony and beauty.
