Materials
Stone: Glass | 6 & 10mm Round Beads
Wine red glass beads are crafted through a meticulous process of melting and shaping silica-based glass mixed with mineral additives. The vibrant red hue is achieved by adding precise amounts of metals like gold, copper, or selenium to the molten glass. These additives interact chemically to produce the deep, translucent wine-red color that gives these beads their luxurious appearance. Skilled artisans then shape and polish the glass to create beads with a uniform, high-quality finish.
Mythology and History
The art of creating colored glass dates back thousands of years, with red glass being especially prized in ancient cultures. In Roman times, red glass symbolized power and wealth, while medieval artisans used it in stained glass windows to represent divine love and sacrifice. The wine-red hue often evoked themes of passion, vitality, and the essence of life.
Historically, red glass has also been associated with alchemy, as the process of creating such vivid colors was considered almost magical. Many believed these beads carried the transformative energy of fire, connecting them to themes of rebirth and vitality.

Fittings & Findings: Stainless Steel | PVD 18k Gold Finish
Stainless Steel | 18k PVD Gold Finish
Material Composition: The base material of these earrings includes high-grade stainless steel, commonly types 304 or 316L, known for excellent corrosion resistance and hypoallergenic qualities. Over this, an 18k Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) gold finish is applied, giving the appearance of real gold while enhancing durability.
Manufacturing Process:
- Material Selection: Opt for high-quality stainless steel for the base, which ensures longevity and resistance to tarnishing.
- PVD Coating Preparation: The stainless steel is cleaned and prepared for the PVD process to ensure adhesion of the gold layer.
- PVD Application: Gold atoms are vaporized in a vacuum chamber and deposited onto the steel in a process that bonds the gold at an atomic level, creating a hard, durable gold coating.
- Cutting & Shaping: After coating, the steel is cut and shaped into the desired forms, like fish/french hooks for earrings.
- Polishing & Finishing: The gold-coated steel is polished to enhance the finish’s luster and smoothness.
- Quality Control: Each piece is checked for uniformity of the gold layer, adherence to jewelry standards, and overall integrity.
Why They Don’t Oxidize
The stainless steel base forms a protective chromium oxide layer which prevents rust. The PVD gold coating adds another layer of protection, making the jewelry highly resistant to oxidation, even in humid or salty environments.
Magnetic Properties
Similar to plain stainless steel, the 18k PVD gold finish does not alter the magnetic properties significantly. The stainless steel might still have slight magnetic qualities based on its composition or processing, but this is not affected by the PVD layer.
Hypoallergenic Assurance
The gold PVD coating further seals the nickel content within the stainless steel, reducing the likelihood of skin reactions. This combination ensures that the earrings are suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies to base metals.

Each earring weighs 2.7g and measures 11x42mm.

6 & 10mm beads, in some cases the size of the stone beads may vary +-1mm.
Hook lengths range between 1cm basic hooks, 1.5+cm English Locks, 2cm silver hooks – refer to the product photos.
On Earrings’ Weight Principles
In principle I keep the weight below 5 grams per earring, so it doesn’t stretch or hurt your ears even if you wear it the whole day. Occasionally, for some designs, that weight limit exceeds by a gram – every pair has their specific weight marked under the general description or “dimensions” tab.

Gently wipe the beads and metal components with a soft, damp cloth.
Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, or jewelry cleaners that could harm the stones or tarnish the metal.
Be sure to clean around the pin and hole of the bead carefully to prevent buildup that may affect the appearance or functionality of the earrings.

Store your earrings in a soft pouch, jewelry box, or separate compartment to prevent scratching or damaging the beads and metal components.
Keep the earrings in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, and temperature extremes to preserve their integrity.
Handling
Handle the earrings with care when putting them on or taking them off, holding the metal stud and not the stone to avoid damaging the bead or shifting the pin.
Be cautious when wearing them to avoid snagging on clothing or other objects, which could cause the stones or pins to loosen.
Always remove earrings before swimming, bathing, or applying personal care products like perfume, hairspray, or lotions. Moisture or chemicals can degrade the metal and dull the natural luster of the stones.
Avoid exposing the earrings to extreme humidity or excessive sweat, as this could damage both the stones and the metal over time.
